Ukrainian Refugee, 23, Who Fled War To US Is Stabbed To Death By Career Criminal
A Ukrainian refugee who escaped the war in her homeland by fleeing to Charlotte, North Carolina in the US has been stabbed to death by a known criminal in the area.
Iryna Zarutska, 23, was ‘seeking safety from the war and hoping for a new beginning’ in the US, but was murdered at South End light rail station last Friday.

Her life was cut short thanks to homeless man Decarlos Brown Jr, 34, a repeat offender who has been in and out of prison for the last 15 years.
Brown has been arrested multiple times since 2011, with 21 separate mugshots, 16 previous court cases and charges including theft, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault on a female, breaking and entering, and communicating threats. His most recent arrest was for misuse of the 911 system, when he told cops someone had given him a ‘man-made’ material that controlled his actions.
Does that sound like someone who should be free to roam the streets, especially factoring in his violent convictions as well?

Brown has been charged with first-degree murder, but that will be little consolation to Iryna’s family and friends who would have believed that she was safer in the US than she was in Ukraine.
A GoFundMe looking to raise $30,000 for her family, said: ‘I’ra had recently arrived in the United States, seeking safety from the war and hoping for a new beginning.’
‘Tragically, her life was cut short far too soon.’
‘This is an irreparable loss for her family. We have created this fundraiser to support her aunt Valeria and her loved ones during this heartbreaking time and to help them with the unexpected expenses.’

Hopefully for the good of society, Decarlos Brown will be locked up for life this time.
RIP Iryna and thoughts with her friends and family as they come to grips with their loss.
