Tommy Robinson in Israel: “I Wish Our Country Had A Leader Like Netanyahu”

Tommy Robinson may have come out with his wildest take yet after arriving in Israel this week, saying: “I wish our country had a leader like Netanyahu.” I mean, I know Keir Starmer has been a shambles, but he’s not that bad, is he?

From the arrivals hall at Ben Gurion Airport, Robinson said he is “here to show solidarity with the Jewish people and the Israeli people” after the British government announced that it would recognise an independent Palestinian state — which Robinson has repeatedly referred to as a “terrorist state.”

Tommy said: “I’m here to show solidarity with real strong leadership. I wish our country had a leader like Netanyahu.

“We have weak cowards. Our government have recognised a terrorist state and that government are not elected on a mandate. They are elected with 20% of the public vote.

“So I don’t want people in Israel to think that the other 80%… not even the majority of Labour support them, support recognising a terrorist state.

“I’m here to show solidarity with the Jewish people and the Israeli people… because Israel is surrounded by Jihad.

“Britain is going to be surrounded by Jihad. The problems that Israel faces here are the same problems that we’re going to face…

Obviously Israel understands now they can’t appease them.”

Well, he’s entitled to his opinion, but I wonder if he knows that Bibi Netanyahu is widely unpopular even in Israel, not just due to his handling of the war in Gaza and its fallout, but also due to his long-running corruption trial which he keeps delaying by prolonging the situation in Gaza. His hold on power has remained despite low approval ratings and protests across Israel (and the world).

But still, he’s got a fan in Tommy Robinson, so I guess he must be doing something right, eh? Given that Tommy himself is a repeat criminal offender and not even born in the UK, maybe he could revoke his citizenship while he’s in Israel and just stay over there?

That would be one way to avoid jail over PIN-gate, at least.
