Teaching Assistant Told Pupils He Killed 250 People As A Sniper

A PE teaching assistant has been banned from classrooms after lying to pupils that he had shot dead over 250 people as a military sniper.

Scott John Trigg-Turner, 44, told students at Bassaleg School in Newport, South Wales, that he served in the US marines under the codename ‘Kill Switch’. Although I don’t know why he invented that moniker; ‘Trigg-Turner’ would actually be a great name for a sniper.

Naturally, word quickly spread around the school, and other teachers became concerned after hearing Trigg-Turner had told Year 8 pupils that he had killed ‘in excess of 250 people.’

Wheelchair user Trigg-Turner told The Education Workforce Council that his words were ‘misinterpreted’ and that he felt ‘targeted and singled out.’ Which is a weird thing to say because I don’t think anyone else was going around telling schoolchildren that they had killed over 250 people in combat.

He was a prominent Wales international wheelchair rugby player for the Wigan Warriors wheelchair rugby league team

It’s even worse than that; according to Sharon Davies, a learning support assistant at the school, Trigg-Turner also claimed to be a lord, had been awarded an MBE, had shaken hands with the King, and served in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, despite literally being too young to do so. He also told colleagues he owned a gun at home (he denied this during the investigation).

One thing that is true about Trigg-Turner is that he played in the Wigan Warriors wheelchair rugby league team, but I guess he didn’t that was cool enough to impress a bunch of 12 year olds.

It’s really quite sad if you think about it. I know PE teachers tend to talk a lot of b0llocks, but it’s usually along the lines of “I would have been playing in the Premier League if it wasn’t for my bad ankle” or pretending they have bad eyesight so they can go into the girl’s changing rooms, not lying that they’re trained in military warfare and have killed over 250 people.

Helen Beard-Robbins, the panel chairman, said his lapses were ‘sustained and deliberate.’

She said: ‘There is evidence of deep-seated attitudinal problems given the lies Trigg-Turner told pupils, colleagues, and his line manager.’

The Education Workforce Council (EWC) Wales panel was told wheelchair user Mr Trigg-Turner claimed to serve in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, despite being too young to do so

Trigg-Turner was struck off the EWC register and can’t reapply for two years. Which seems like a fair enough outcome, really. I mean, these weren’t some harmless exagerrations; the guy was literally telling young kids that he was a killer and had a gun at home. How the hell would that topic even come up? Massive safeguarding red flag.

I bet the kids were properly well-behaved in his classes though – will give him that.
