Simon Bird Has Officially Joined The Cast Of Star Wars: Starfighter

In news that’s only really hilarious if you’re British, Simon Bird AKA Will McKenzie from the Inbetweeners has officially joined the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter, the new Star Wars film starring Ryan Gosling.

Starfighter will be the first Star Wars film since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 and will focus on new characters in the universe set roughly half a decade after Star Wars: Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker. Gosling will play a character who “must protect his young nephew against evil pursuers.”

No word yet on which role Simon Bird will play, but all we can really imagine right now is him pretending a lightsabre is his c0ck. He’s just such a pure comedy character that it’s hard to imagine him in Star Wars for anything other than comedic relief. A lightsabre w@nker, if you will?

Unless… he’s playing Yoda? That would make sense…

Either way, the news has really brought that clip full circle.

Aside from Ryan Gosling, Simon Bird will also star alongside Amy Adams, Matt Smith and Flynn Gray, who will be playing the young lad who Gosling must protect.

Some people seem to think that Bird’s inclusion has ‘I am voicing a droid’ written all over it, and I guess that does make sense as you can totally imagine a Star Wars android with his quintessentially British accent.

Production has already kicked off in England, so I guess more details will be forthcoming soon. Congrats, Simon! Jay will be absolutely fuming.
