Sadiq Khan Confirms He Will Seek Fourth Term As London Mayor

London could potentially endure 16 years of Sadiq Khan in total, as the mayor suggested he will run for a FOURTH time at then next election in 2028.

If he does run, he’s basically a cert to win – which means Sir Sadiq’s mayoral run will stretch to 2032.

The Labour politician, first elected London mayor in 2016, said he had the ‘best job in politics’ as he set out his plan to remain in his £170,000-a-year role.

Khan is already the longest-serving London mayor following his historic third election victory last year, despite the scrutiny over knife crime in the capital, his expansion of the ULEZ scheme and continued Tube strikes (he had promised ‘zero strikes’ on public transport if he was elected mayor).

Sir Sadiq Khan today revealed he is aiming for a 16-year stretch as London mayor as he confirmed it is his 'intention' to run for a fourth term in charge of the capital

Khan told LBC: ‘I’ve got the best job in politics. There’s no reason I’d give this job up for another job in politics.

‘I love what I’m doing, and Londoners have lent me their votes, not on one, not on two, but on three occasions.

‘As long as I continue to feel I can deliver for this great city of ours, I’ll carry on being the mayor.’

Asked if he would run for a fourth term as London mayor, Khan said: ‘That’s my intention.’

The Labour politician, who was first elected London mayor in 2016, said he had the 'best job in politics' as he set out an ambition to remain in City Hall.

I guess it’s as good as guaranteed, especially with the crap that the Tories churn out to run against him. Ideally he would step aside and let someone else with fresh ideas take over, but like he says: he has the best job in the politics. He’s on £170k a year and there’s no other politician even close to challenging his spot. Not to mention – he knows it would royally p1ss off Donald Trump if he remained in power for as long as possible.

In the end, I suppose Khan is not any different from other politician in the UK who could be in his position. All they do is reject responsibility for anything bad, never admit their mistakes, and blame someone else for their troubles. Mayoral powers may be quite limited in the grand scheme of things, but maybe it’s time for Londoners to elect someone who’s willing to openly discuss what’s wrong in the capital and how it can be improved.

If only that candidate existed.

Unless… this guy?!
