Rylan Clark Responds To Backlash Over Immigration Comments On ‘This Morning’

Rylan Clark is being accused of having gone ‘full right-wing’ following comments he made on This Morning during a segment discussing ‘mass deportation’ plans proposed Nigel Farage and Reform UK.

The plan would involve deporting 600,000 illegal migrants over five years, if Reform UK win at the next election.

Might they have secured Rylan’s vote already? Here’s what he said on This Morning while speaking to co-hosts Josie Gibson, Camilla Tominey and Tim Campbell:

“I find it absolutely insane that all these people are risking their lives coming across the Channel.

“And when they get here, it does seem, and I think this is why a lot of Labour voters as well are saying there’s something wrong, it feels like, ‘Welcome, come on in’. That’s the narrative we’re being fed.

“Here’s the iPad. Here’s the NHS in reception of your hotel. Here’s three meals a day. Here’s a games room in the hotel. Have a lovely time and welcome.

“There are people that have lived here all their lives that are struggling. They’re homeless. Let’s not even discuss our homeless. There are people living on the streets, veterans, all of this.”

In fairness to Rylan, he did also praise legal immigrants in the UK: “[The UK] is built on immigration. Legal immigration — a lot of the nurses, the doctors that have saved my mum’s life, have come over here from other countries.

“They’re living a great life, they’re paying into this tax system, they’re helping this country thrive.”

Naturally, Rylan’s comments caused a load of outrage online, though he did also receive a lot of support too. In fact Tommy Robinson himself bigged up Rylan for his comments on X, which probably didn’t help matters as far as the backlash was concerned.

With all the abuse coming his way, Rylan has now issued a statement addressing his comments and clarifying where he stands:

Well, that seems sensible enough really. Rylan’s post was liked by Zoe Ball, Tamzin Outhwaite, Kate Thornton, Sally Carman, AJ Pritchard, Kate Ford, Coleen Nolan and Strictly pro Johannes Radabe, so at least his peers aren’t turning him on en masse, which may have been the case if he made those same comments even just a year or two ago.

Then again, others including Jeremy Vine star Narinder Kaur, said: “Do better @Rylan. Apologise and stop cosplaying fascist and racist narratives putting targets on brown and black communities! How dare you.”

Rylan Clark? A fascist? What a time to be alive…
