Plus-Size Rapper Dank Demoss Settles Lawsuit With Lyft After Driver Refused Her Service

Earlier this year, 489-pound female rapper Dank Demoss went viral after announcing she was suing Lyft because a driver refused her service on the basis he didn’t believe she could fit in his car.

36-year-old Dajua Blanding AKA Dank Demoss recorded the incident for TikTok, with the driver apologetically telling her that his tyres couldn’t handle her weight, and advising that she order a Uber XL instead. Here’s a reminder of the incident:

In court, Dank Demoss’s argument was that weight is a protected characteristic in Michigan and as such is treated the same as age, race or gender (crazy, I know). Sure enough, Demoss’s lawyers argued that denying someone a ride based on their weight is the same as denying someone because of their race or religion – at least under the law.

Well, Dank Demoss’s attorney, Zach Runyan, has now confirmed that the lawsuit has been “resolved,” but could not speak further on specifics of the case.

The internet appears to be theorising that Dank Demoss won the lawsuit, with some big accounts on X claiming that she’s now rolling around with her own personal chaffeur. What’s more – they claim the Lyft driver who refused her service was fired:

I can’t find any reputable source that says the same, but these big X accounts wouldn’t make things up for traction, would they? You’ve got to feel bad for driver in that case. As an independent contractor, you would think he has the right to accept or refuse anyone he wants into his own personal vehicle. It’s not like Lyft would pay for new suspension if she did end up wrecking his car, is it?

Well anyway, all we know for sure is that the lawsuit is settled and the saga is over. It was fun while it lasted.
