Old MySpace Interview With Lostprophets In 2010 Shows Ian Watkins’ “Guilty Pleasure” May Have Been An ‘Open Secret’
An old MySpace interview featuring Ian Watkins and his Lostprophets bandmates has resurfaced following the prison murder of the disgraced singer, with some theorising that it suggests his depraved behaviour was an “open secret.”
Sounds outrageous, sure, but watch the exchange below as the band take a question from a fan using the username ‘Baby Girl’:
Ian Watkins is dead.
This old MySpace interview he did with his band Lostprophets back in 2010 shows that his “guilty pleasure” might’ve been an open secret within the band.

Watkins: *Laughs* Just answered it.… pic.twitter.com/fu3p6WuA7H— Nicholas Jointson (@NickJointson) October 12, 2025
Stuart Richardson: Baby Girl asks “What’s your guilty pleasure?”
Watkins: *Laughs* Just answered it. [
Richardson: “Ian, you’ve been with a couple of famous ladies. Who would you rather spend one last night with, Fearne [Cotton] or Alexa [Chung]? Or all the others? That’s what they forgot to say there. There’s loads! You don’t even know.
Watkins: Stu does.
Richardson: I do. I’ve seen all the videos. *Laughs*
Watkins: We’re going to the dark place!
Richardson: Oookay, next question!
Well, that’s certainly an odd exchange, but does it suggest that the band knew what he was up to? I seriously doubt it. Clearly they knew he was a pervert but in that harmless way that you might take the p1ss out of that one friend about. Never in a million years could they have suspected just how extreme his perversions were.
Bandmate Lee Gaze said as much under a clip of the video on X:
Furthermore, after Watkins’ guilty plea in December 2013, Gaze, talking of the band’s horrified reaction, said: ‘There was two sets of it [shock] because there were the accusations – which was one thing.
‘And then there was the actual, “Yeah I did do it” which was a year later. He dragged that out for a year, so we got hit by it twice.’
He added: ‘How could you know? How would you know?
‘Who would disclose such a thing to five people, who between them have eight children? You just wouldn’t because they would be killed on the spot.’
I mean, that sounds as sincere as it gets really. Either way, it’s scary to watch that clip and know that we are looking at someone who was a demonic child abuser at that exact moment in time. The good news is that he’ll never be able to harm another child again.
