A Juror Asked To Be Excused From Nikolas Cruz Murder Trial Because Her ‘Sugar Daddy’ Needed Her

Jury selection has begun in the case of Nikolas Cruz, the teenager who massacred 14 people at the Marjorie Stoneham Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida four years ago. The task of presiding over this high-profile trial has fallen to Florida Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer, whose first job is to choose a jury of 12 men and women who will determine Cruz’s guilt or innocence.

Just in case you forgot this whole story is taking place in Florida, here’s what happened in the courtroom earlier today:

‘Miss Bristol’ piped up to say not only was the trial expected to take ‘a whole entire month’, it conflicted with her birthday and would interrupt her love life.

‘First of all let me clarify myself, July second is my birthday, July Fourth is my son, and the 18th is my other son.  And again, I need to figure out something. I have my sugar daddy that I see every day.’

The judge replied: ‘I’m sorry?’  Bristol replied: ‘My sugar daddy.’

The judge, looking increasingly confused, said: ‘I’m not exactly sure what you’re talking about.’

‘Well I am married and I have my sugar daddy. I see him every day.’

Lost for words, Judge Scherer replied: ‘OK. All right. Ma’am, we’ll come back to you, OK? Thank you.’

Only in Florida. The best part is that it seems Judge Scherer is genuinely taking Miss Bristol’s sugar daddy excuse under consideration? Although you’d think the fact she has two kids and three birthdays coming up would be a decent enough excuse to get off jury duty for a trial that’s likely going to last a long while. Can’t be expecting a mum to spend her days listening to evidence in a mass murder trial when she has cakes and presents to take care of, can you? Who else is going to sort that out; her husband? No chance.

Oh well, as long as justice is done in the end I suppose it doesn’t really matter if Miss Bristol is off baking birthday cakes and banging her sugar daddy. Big up Judge Scherer – a woman of the people, indeed!
