New Poll Reveals Nigel Farage Is On Track To Be Next Prime Minister
A major new poll has found that if a General Election were held tomorrow, Nigel Farage would win it in a landslide.
Reform UK would take 311 seats, 15 short of an absolute majority of 326, according to the latest MRP poll conducted by YouGov.
This would be the largest gain in seats for a single political party at an election in British history. It would also bring an end to the traditional two-party system which has dominated post-war politics in this country.
Here’s a visual representation of the YouGov poll, based on a sample of 13,000 voters taken over the last three weeks:

In practice, once the Speaker and absent Sinn Fein MPs are accounted for, it would be basically impossible for anyone other than Nigel Farage to secure the largest number of MP backers and thus become prime minister. Unless everyone, including the Tories, moved to block him and united around another candidate.
Speaking of the Tories, they would basically be wiped out according to the poll, reduced to their worst ever post-war result with just 45 seats.

If anything, under this result, the Tories would be the most likely ‘kingmaker’ in building a coalition which would allow Farage to take power. What else could they possibly do?
Meanwhile, barely a year after Keir Starmer won a landslide, this result would see Labour lose around two-thirds of their existing seats, down from the 411 they won in last year’s election. It would also be a (much) worse result than Labour’s 2019 result under Jeremy Corbyn when they won 202 seats and is their lowest tally since 1931.
How quickly things change, eh?
The biggest losers would be the Tories, who would basically go extinct with a result like this. They would be in fourth place behind the Lib Dems (!), marking the first time they have not been one of the two biggest parties.

Reform UK has improved its position since the last YouGov MRP in June, when it was 55 seats short of a majority.
So, how seriously should we take this poll? After all, I seem to recall YouGov getting it totally wrong when it came to Brexit. However, other (smaller) polls have the Reform UK total even higher, so it’s possible that this particular mega poll could be underestimating the scale of a Nigel Farage win.
I suppose we won’t know for sure until 2029, and of course a lot can and will change by then. Will Keir Starmer even make it to 2029 as PM?
