Man Banned From Every Tesco, Co-Op, Sainsburys, B&M, TK Maxx And Iceland In The UK

A prolific shoplifter in Lancashire has been banned from every Tesco, Co-op, Sainsburys, B&M, TK Maxx, Iceland, Booths and Trespass in the UK, which I guess relegates him to doing the daily shop at those newsagents that sell vapes and fix phones.

Christopher Moran, 57, of no fixed address, has also been slapped with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which bans him from areas of Preston and Penwortham, reports LancsLive.

Moran appeared at Preston Magistrates Court last Thursday (November 27) and pleaded guilty to 10 counts of theft. Aside from the CBO banning him from every store under the sun and from certain areas of Preston and Penwortham, he was also jailed for 12 weeks.

Almost forgot to mention – he was already in prison serving a separate 52 week sentence for other offences.

The CBO bans Moran from:

– Entering any the following stores with the UK: Booths, Iceland, Tesco, Co-Op Food Store, Sainsburys, B&M Bargains, TK Maxx, and Trespass

– Entering Preston Marina, Navigation Way, Preston

– Entering the area of Penwortham

– If requested to leave any retail premises by any employee of those premises, do so immediately, returning any stock selected prior to the request before doing so

A force spokesperson said: “CBOs are used to target individuals who are repeat demand generators and have been identified as often engaging in criminality in a specified area.

“They are given to people who have been convicted of an offence with the aim to prevent them engaging in further criminal behaviour.”

The good news is that Christopher Moran still has Asda… for now. Although it doesn’t seem like he’s the type of person to abide by any CBO so it’s likely he’ll just keep stealing (or attempting to steal) from the stores that have already banned him. What are they going to do? Double ban him?

It does the beg the question as to what society is supposed to do about people like this. Do you just keep throwing him in prison over and over again every time he shoplifts? Or do you lock him up and throw away the key? I suppose there’s no perfect answer. Here’s hoping he sorts himself out and then who knows? He can start ordering Deliveroo and JustEat instead of stealing from every shop in town. It’s never too late, Chris!
