Liz Truss Says She’s Cheering On Donald Trump To Destroy The BBC

Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss is loving Trump’s recent beatdown of the BBC, and is backing the US President’s plan to sue the corporation for up to $5 billion.

The BBC never had any nice things to say about Liz Truss when she was PM, so I guess it makes sense that she’s delighting in recent developments:

On Trump’s incoming lawsuit against the BBC, Truss says: “Lots of people in Britain are cheering Trump on…They’ve lied, they’ve cheated, they’ve fiddled with footage. They’ve also covered up what’s happening in Britain, whether it be mass migration or economic problems. They are always biased towards the left, and the British taxpayer has had to pay for all of this fake news. I believe the organisation needs to be defunded. It needs to be put out of its misery.”

She then retweeted the clip with the caption: “I and many other Brits are cheering Trump on. The BBC is the epitome of what has gone wrong with Britain.”

The BBC (and other outlets) were scathing of Liz Truss during her run as Prime Minister in 2022 – which lasted a whole 49 days and gave her the dubious honour of being the shortest-serving PM in history. I mean, even Keir Starmer has managed to last longer than that.

The BBC had apologised to Trump over their misleading edit in a Panorama documentary last year, where they spliced together two clips to make it sound like he told the Jan 6 crowd: ‘We’re going to walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be there with you, and we fight. We fight like hell.’

However, the BBC refused to compensate Trump for the error, saying he didn’t suffer any loss because of it (he was elected President shortly after).

Trump says they’re going to get the ball rolling on the lawsuit this coming week (Monday 17 November). If successful, nobody’s going be dancing harder on the BBC’s grave than Liz Truss. Well, except maybe Gary Lineker.
