Judge Shocked As Police Officer Joins Court Meeting Over Zoom With No Trousers On
One of the biggest benefits of working from home is that you don’t have to get dressed up to go to work. However, you’ve still got to ensure you’re wearing pants if calling in for a Zoom meeting, or at least get your camera angles right so that everyone else doesn’t realise you’re sitting there in your underwear.
Unfortunately for this police officer attending a virtual trial over in Michigan, he had no idea the Zoom camera was showing the lower half of his body:
NEW: Detroit Police officer Matthew Jackson shows up to a Zoom hearing without pants on.
Judge Sean B. Perkins: “Officer Jackson. Good morning to you. Can you put your appearance on the record, please?”
Officer Jackson: *Raises hand*
Judge Perkins: “You got some pants on,… pic.twitter.com/hC2BY2Tmqt

Too funny. I mean, that really is taking ‘business casual’ to the next level. Fair play to the judge for just keeping things moving following that stunningly awkward moment, knowing full well the officer is sitting there with no trousers on.
After the hearing, the Detroit Police Department said they were addressing the incident with the officer:
“The Detroit Police Department requires its officers to represent themselves in a dignified and professional manner while attending court proceedings. The involved officer’s actions are not representative of the professionalism of this department and will be appropriately addressed to maintain the public confidence and efficient operation of this department. Our apologies are hereby extended to the judges and staff of the court, as well as anyone else who may have been in attendance during this incident.”
It’s just too bad he got caught really, as it’s otherwise a basically harmless move. Imagine if he didn’t have any underwear on either?! Now that would have been a problem.
