Joey Barton Rips Into Women’s Football Following Lionesses’ Euro 2025 Win
You can just imagine Joey Barton watching the Euro 2025 final last night and praying that the England women’s team did not win the shootout at the end. Unfortunately for him that’s exactly what they did, and so he immediately jumped on X to let his feelings be known.
Barton labelled the competition the ‘Nonsense Pottery Trophy’, before slating the lack of quality in the game and telling the Lionesses: ‘Don’t ever ask for equal pay again. Youse are miles off it.’

Just Joey Barton being Joey Barton really. I mean, we all know the quality and technical ability on show is miles off from what we see in the men’s game, but you’ve got to be an unbelievably sad b@stard to sh1t on the Lionesses’ parade, right? Especially just minutes after they won the biggest game of their lives. And especially since the men’s team haven’t won a final in donkeys’ years.
Naturally, Barton also got into it with some of the people responding to his Tweets:

It was pretty dire, to be fair. But that’s not the point. Besides, these ladies have accomplished more in football than he ever did throughout his playing career. In fact, Joey Barton only ever got one cap for England. These girls have won a whole damn title for their country!
Maybe that’s what his real issue is..
For the time Joey Barton was called out by a world kickboxing champion for ‘bullying’ his daughter, click HERE. Somehow I don’t think he’ll be mentioning her again.
