JK Rowling Reacts As Glamour UK Names 9 Transgender Women As ‘Women Of The Year’
In a move that was definitely designed to wind up half the internet, Glamour UK have crowned a group of 9 transgender women as their 2025 ‘Women of the Year’ – and obviously JK Rowling has had her say about it.
The British fashion mag bestowed its annual award to nine trans women, collectively known as ‘The Dolls’, saying “these trailblazers work tirelessly to empower, uplift and celebrate trans voices.”
Rowling’s reaction:
I grew up in an era when mainstream women’s magazines told girls they needed to be thinner and prettier.
Now mainstream women’s magazines tell girls that men are better women than they are. pic.twitter.com/ybEFr8XdSv

Of course there’s thousands more accounts having a pop at Glamour UK, and I guess it’s the sort of reaction they were looking for (how else are they going to get people to pay attention to their magazine?).
Whoever runs the magazine’s X account even fired back at Rowling with a sarcastic, unapologetic remark:
Better luck next year Jo x

Followed by a straight up troll job of a Tweet:
Stay mad, JK. https://t.co/t0wVznMYcx

In all seriousness, it is curious and surprising that Glamour UK have named a group of trans women as ‘Women of the Year’ in 2025. It really did seem like there was a vibe shift in the last couple years where the general sentiment was that we wouldn’t be doing this sort of thing anymore, and it would in no way be detrimental to the acceptance of transgender individuals, but rather just respectful of biological women.
I guess Glamour UK does not see it that way. Here’s a closer look at their ‘Women of the Year’:
