Jeremy Corbyn & Zarah Sultana Clash Over New Party Membership
Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana have already managed to have a public falling out after launching their ‘new kind of political party‘ a couple months back, which was exciting news for anyone seeking an alternative to Labour, the Tories and Reform UK.
Here’s what’s happened: Zarah Sultana posted a link to her social media for members to sign up and pay for a Your Party membership yesterday morning.
We said this was your party — and we meant it.
We have just launched our membership.

More than 20,000 people signed up for a direct debit, making them ‘paid members’ of the party at either £5 monthly subscription or £55 annual membership.
Just one problem with that; hours later, Jeremy Corbyn shared an ‘urgent message to all [Your Party] members’ on X, claiming the link put out by Sultana was ‘unauthorised’ and urging anyone who signed up to cancel their direct debit. What a disaster!

This resulted in Sultana’s social media accounts being flooded with confused supporters wondering WTF was going on, asking if the membership was ‘legitimate’ and announcing that they had lost trust in the party already.
This prompted Sultana to put out a statement explaining the situation and accusing Corbyn of running a ‘sexist boys’ club’. Uh oh…

‘After being sidelined by the MPs named in today’s statements and effectively frozen out of official accounts, I took the step of launching a membership portal so that supporters could continue to engage and organise.
‘My sole motivation has been to safeguard the grassroots involvement that is essential to building this party.
‘Unfortunately, I have been subject to what can only be described as a sexist boy’s club: I have been treated appallingly and excluded completely.’
Meanwhile, Your Party confirmed in a statement that the membership system launched was indeed ‘false’.
‘These developments are a blow for everyone who has put their hope in a real alternative,’ the statement said, adding that the ‘unauthorised email’ has been reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Jeez, way to make yourselves look like a bunch of amateurs. Of course, it’s completely normal to have disputes and disagreements about how the party should be structured and how quickly they should move; I just don’t understand how they’ve allowed this all to play out so publicly instead of sorting it out amongst themselves, if they really are serious about uniting this new party to take on Labour, the Tories and Reform UK.
I mean, we all suspected they were going to start bashing each other eventually, but this soon?
Come on guys, sort it out. We need all the options we can get come the next General Election.
