Holly Willoughby Broke Moped Rider’s Neck After Hitting Him In Her Mini Cooper
Holly Willoughby has pleaded guilty to to knocking a moped rider off their bike in a driving accident last August, which resulted in the rider breaking their neck.
The former This Morning host, 44, was accused of careless driving in her Mini Cooper in Barnes on August 28, when she crashed into the scooter and knocked the rider to the ground.
As per MailOnline, the court was shown footage of Willoughby turning right into a side street without indicating, while the rider attempted to overtake her.
The rider, on a white Piaggio scooter, collided with the front wing of the car and was sent spiralling into the road, where he was flung from his bike and suffered a fracture to his neck and a broken toe.
Willoughby was handed six points on her licence and fined £1,653 including court costs, to be paid within 14 days. Naturally, she wasn’t present in court. As if she would suffer the indignity!

Aisling Byrnes, defending, said Willoughby had a ‘momentary lapse of judgement’.
Byrnes added: ‘This error is one that was completely out of character for Mrs Baldwin [her married name], who is of otherwise exemplary character.’
‘She is extremely remorseful. She left her vehicle, she want straight to the moped driver, offered him assistance and water and her mobile phone so he could phone anyone he needed to.
‘She waited at the scene until the responders arrived, and she admitted responsibility at the scene.’
Prosecutor Geraldine Dickinson told the court: ‘The defendant was driving [the Mini] in Barnes.
‘The intention was to turn right, which she did without indicating and the rider was thrown from the motorbike. This resulted in the injury to the rider: a C7 fracture and a broken toe.
‘[The victim] was riding his white Piaggio scooter, approximately 180 metres before the traffic lights, which were showing red at the time.’

The unnamed victim’s statement read: ‘I was travelling at a speed of around 20mph and was slowing down to stop.
‘As I was level with the black Mini Cooper the driver turned right without indicating in order to enter the road. This caused me to be thrown to the ground in the carriageway.’
Well, the good news is that the victim wasn’t killed, but he very easily could have been. Can you imagine what a vehicular manslaughter charge would have done to Holly Willoughby’s career? If there’s one way to completely ruin your Goody Two Shoes image forever it’s by taking someone’s life after failing to follow the basic rules of the road.
What was she so preoccupied with, anyway? Was she in rush to push in front of a queue somewhere? I guess we’ll never know.
Wishing the victim a speedy recovery.
