Former Premier League Referee David Coote Pleads Guilty To Making An Indecent Image Of A Child

Disgraced Premier League referee David Coote, who was sacked by the PGMOL in 2024 after a video of him doing cocaine and calling Jurgen Klopp a c*** went viral, has pleaded guilty to making an indecent image of a child.

Coote, 43, is charged with making a Category A video – which is the worst kind. It means the video ‘contains images involving penetrative sexual activity, sexual activity with a child, animal or sadism’.

Now, Coote has been charged with “making” the video, which in the legal sense can be anything from actually videoing it to opening an attachment on WhatsApp with it in there. The term “making” covers distribution or possession as well as creation of the video, so even downloading it onto his device means he’s “made” another copy.

Which doesn’t change anything, because at the end of the day: David Coote was in possession of a video involving a child being sexually abused by an adult.

Coote appeared at Nottingham Crown Court this morning (Tuesday 14 October) and spoke only to confirm his name and enter his guilty plea during the hearing in front of Judge Nirmal Shant KC.

The former referee was granted conditional bail and told he must appear in court again on December 11.

Initially when Coote was sacked for the coked-up viral video of him slagging off Jurgen Klopp, he gave an interview in which revealed he was gay, has self-esteem issues, was devastated about being sacked, and basically just trying to get everyone to feel sorry for him:

It actually worked! People did feel sorry for David Coote and urged the media and football world to get off his back and let him get on with his life following a massive public humiliation and sacking. Well, it’s a little harder for to feel sorry for him now that he’s a plead guilty to being a nonce, isn’t it?

VAR can’t save you now, lad…
