Fitness Influencer Dies While Trying ‘Food Marathon’ Eating 10,000 Calories A Day

A fitness influencer from Orenburg, Russia, has died after a ‘food marathon’ in which he ate 10,000 calories of fast food a day.

Dmitry Nuyanzin, 30, wanted to gain weight rapidly to show his followers he could lose it just as quickly and efficiently. He also promised to pay 10,000 rubles (£100) to his followers weighing over 100kg who could lose at least 10% of their weight by New Year.

Dmitry spent weeks feasting on junk food – mainly pizza, burgers, crisps, cake and pastries – to pack on the pounds, while sharing his progress on social media.

In one clip, he explained: “I am currently gaining weight for my weight-loss course, and this is my 10,000-calorie diet. For breakfast, I have a plate of pastries and half a cake.

“For lunch, I usually eat 800 grams of dumplings with mayonnaise. During the day, I may snack on crisps, and for dinner, I have a burger and two small pizzas, either at a café or delivered.”

In a post shared on 21 October, Nuyanzin wrote: “Friends! My WEIGHT LOSS COURSE is starting very soon, where you can win awesome prizes and, most importantly, build a beautiful body, learn how to eat well, and enjoy working out! I’ll be losing weight with my students, so it’ll be doubly exciting!”

Sounds like the guy was really trying to improve people’s lives and turned himself into a guinea pig to prove how effectively it could be done, and to put his money where his mouth is as a fitness influencer.

Unfortunately, his high-calorie diet proved to be too much for his body to handle, and Dmitry died of a heart attack in his sleep, according to Ostorozhno Novosti channel.

He was found unresponsive the day after cancelling training sessions with clients and telling friends that he felt unwell.

According to his family, Dmitry’s heart ‘stopped beating in his sleep’. He weighed 105kg.

In his final social media post, Dmitry was seen showing off his belly while eating a bag of crisps with the caption: “I wanted it and I was able to!”

Of course, it’s no secret that excess weight is bad for the heart, but it’s still shocking to think that piling on just 13kg or so led to an otherwise healthy 30-year-old fitness influencer dying in his sleep. Perhaps it had something to do with the ridiculously short amount of time in which he packed on the extra weight, and doing so via 10,000 calories a day?

Then again, there are people (Americans) out there who eat junk food every day and weigh 120kg+ with BMI’s of 50-60%, and they manage to live well into their fifties and sixties. So surely eating unhealthy for a couple months can’t be solely to blame for killing him?

There is some speculation online that Dmitry may have been using steroids and other performance enhancing drugs, but there doesn’t seem to be anything definitive out there. Either way, it’s a tragic end for someone who seemed like a real top guy and was trying to help others on their fitness journeys.

RIP Dmitry Nuyanzin and thoughts with his family and friends.
