Fans Left Fuming As John Cena’s WWE Career Ends In Controversy, Chant ‘You F—ed Up’ At Triple H
John Cena’s historic career as a WWE wrestler came to an end last night (December 13 2025) as he faced off against Gunther in his final match on Saturday Night Live.
John Cena went out old school style – with a loss, and his first tap-out since 2004. The guy with the slogan ‘Never Give Up’ actually gave up, and looked (purposely) content doing so:
It’s over.

Well, turns out this was not a popular decision among wrestling fans. If there’s one guy who deserves to go out with a W, especially after all the people he’s already put over in his retirement run, it’s John Cena.
Fans were so p1ssed that when Triple H (the boss) came out to give Cena a send-off, the whole arena started booing and chanting ‘You f—ed up’. As in – he completely messed up the booking on John Cena’s final match:
DEAFENING boos and loud “YOU FUCKED UP” chants at Triple H, you know you’re ass at your job when your booking gets the office heat instead of the heel 😭✌🏿 #SNME pic.twitter.com/E2nbJ8fkV9

Very awkward no doubt, but at least Triple H got some immediate feedback and now knows how to book this sort of thing next time. Although I’m sure not there’ll be a next time, because there will probably never be a WWE star as popular as John Cena ever again, and certainly not with the longevity of a 24-year career.
Still, the night was full of cool moments, like John Cena greeting some of his old friends and adversaries in the front row, including Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle, Mark Henry and Kevin Owens. Even Haku makes an appearance!

And the match itself, which the crowd was white-hot for:

So it wasn’t the ending that WWE fans hoped for, but they’ll probably forget all about it in a couple weeks. After all, the Royal Rumble is right around the corner! John Cena as a surprise entrant at #30? Well, maybe give it a few years.
