Ellie Goulding Says Migrant Hotel Protesters Make Her ‘Embarrassed To Be British’ In Savage Rant
With tensions at a fever pitch over the migrant hotel situation in the UK right now, Ellie Goulding has decided to weigh in and let everyone know that the demonstrations outside these migrant accommodation facilities have left her feeling “ashamed” of her nationality.
Ellie, 38, first shared an image on Instagram showing footage of protesters gathered outside a Holiday Inn that houses asylum seekers. She captioned the post: “Embarrassed to be a Brit right now.”

She then followed that up with a full-on rant about the dubiousness of demonstrators claiming to act “for ‘women and children”.
Ellie wrote: “I’m a pretty tough girl, but when I think about the times I’ve been the most intimidated in London or anywhere else in the UK, whether on the tube/train or walking with friends late at night, it involves those kinds of British men, either after a night at the pub, post boxing or football match.”
The pop star urged protesters to “stop using immigration as an excuse to be appalling” and suggested those genuinely concerned about Britain should “go and get a National Trust membership for real.”

People on social media accused Ellie Goulding of speaking from her ivory tower, in which she and her loved ones are fully protected from the perceived impact that the migrant hotel saga is having on working-class communities.

Whether you agree with Ellie Goulding’s take on the situation or not, you have to admit that some of the behaviour at these demonstrations has been downright embarrassing. How about the ‘patriot’ that went into full-on meltdown because a police officer refused to shake his hand? Or the guy who was chased off the street and called a nonce because he politely disagreed with the sentiment in Nuneaton? Not to mention the guy who claims to have put up the most England flags around Manchester being exposed as someone who tried to smuggle 4 Vietnamese people in the UK previously?
There’s a way to go about these things that shouldn’t involve acting like complete knuckle-draggers, otherwise you just end up looking like you’re using the whole thing as an excuse to behave like a tw@t.
Let’s hope the situation is sorted out ASAP, one way or another.
