Dog Walker Speaks Out After ‘Pushing’ Cyclist Into Canal For ‘Not Slowing Down’ In Viral Footage

Huge plot twist in the case of the dog walker who allegedly pushed a female cyclist into Ashton Canal in Manchester: the man claims he is totally innocent and that he did not push the lady into the canal. Rather, she fell in all on her own.

There was a hell of a response to the footage on our Facebook page, with most people agreeing that the dog walker was completely out of order and others claiming that the cyclist should have slowed down much sooner. Here’s the video in case you missed it the first time:

The 35-year-old man, who asked to remain anonymous, has now told Manchester Evening News:

“I was out with my girlfriend who’s 26 weeks pregnant. We were walking down the canal, as you do.

“A lady came down at a ridiculous speed. I thought she was going to hit my missus and my dog. I thought my family was in danger.

“She’s carried on to ride towards me. Then she’s clipped me with the handle bars and she’s gone into the canal. I didn’t push her.”

Klaudia says she thought she was going to drown (Kennedy News and Media)

“After it happened, I turned around. I said to her ‘are you okay?’ She told me to f**k off.

“She was stood up. She wasn’t stood on a rock. The canal was waist high.

“She was totally in the wrong. I’m just a normal working guy like anybody else but at the moment I’m just being slandered.”

Very interesting. Klaudia’s version of events was much different; she says the man pushed her into the canal intentionally and that she remained there for 5 minutes standing on a rock until a good Samaritan walked by and helped her out (she can’t swim, you see). She claims the couple did not look back to check if she was OK or drowning.

Who to believe? I’m not sure. Watching the video, it’s hard to tell whether the man makes contact with her or not, but it did certainly appear like he pushed her into the canal. On the other hand, I did find it a bit strange that she stayed in the water for 5 minutes because she can’t swim. As the man says, the canal is only waist-high, she could have easily got out.

Without CCTV, I guess we’ll never know for sure. Klaudia did call the police afterwards but there’s no word on whether they’ve tracked down or made contact with the man yet. We’ll keep you posted…
