Campbell’s Soup VP Mocks ‘Poor People’ Who Buy Its Soup In Secret Recording
It’s never a good look for a top exec to be caught saying nasty things about their consumer base, and it’s doubly worse when you end up sh-tting on your own product in the process.
Campbell Soup Company vice president, Martin Bally, was secretly recorded allegedly referring to the company’s products as “s— for f—ing poor people” and questioning who buys them. The 75-minute recording was made by a former cybersecurity analyst, Robert Garza, during what was supposed to be a routine salary meeting in late 2024.
In the recording, Bally says: “We have s–t for f—ing poor people. Who buys our s–? I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore. It’s not healthy now that I know what the f—‘s in it. Bioengineered meat! I don’t wanna eat a f—ing piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer.”

Well, full marks for honesty I guess. Although maybe ‘honest’ isn’t the right word given he’ll only say this in a private meeting.
In the same recording, Bally is also allegedly heard making racist comments about Indian employees.
He said: “F***ing Indians don’t know a f***ing thing. Like they couldn’t think for their f***ing selves.”
Furthermore, he admits coming to work high on marijuana edibles, although I guess he didn’t take a dose that day because he sounds way too wound up.
After making the recording, Garza reported the comments to his supervisor, but was fired 20 days later, despite having no performance issues. Bad move! Did they not realise this guy (allegedly) has audio evidence of everything Martin Bally said?

Garza has since filed a lawsuit against Campbell’s, accusing the company of unfair dismissal and fostering a racially hostile work environment. Campbell’s have responded by placing Bally on temporary leave while they investigate the situation, which might’ve been a better tactic from the start rather than sacking the whistleblower who has all the receipts.
Furthermore, Florida’s Consumer Protection division is launching an investigation into the quality of Campbell’s products based on Bally’s alleged comments. So on the plus side, it could result in them improving the quality of their products, although the pending dip in sales may have accomplished that regardless.
Then again, their products are apparently so cheap that some consumers may not have a choice. Sad times indeed.
