Bob Vylan Under Fire For Celebrating Charlie Kirk’s Death During Gig

Shameful stuff from Bob Vylan this weekend as the British punk duo celebrated the death of Charlie Kirk on stage in Amsterdam.

While performing at Club Paradiso, the band, which comprises of Bobby and Bobbie Vylan, dedicated a track to “an absolute piece of sh1t human being”, said his pronouns are “was/were” and said “if you chat sh1t, you get banged”, followed by “rest in p1ss, Charlie Kirk, you piece of sh1t.”

Pretty despicable stuff really, no matter how you feel about Charlie Kirk or his politics. Starting a “death to the IDF” chant is one thing (most people actually enjoyed that, in fact), but celebrating the murder of an individual with opposing beliefs and saying they deserved to be shot in the neck? Crazy. Pretty sad that the audience cheered for it too.

In a statement on its website, Club Paradiso said: ‘On Saturday September 13, during his performance at Paradiso, artist Bob Vylan made statements that many experienced as harsh and offensive.

‘Paradiso believes in the power of artistic freedom. Music, and punk in particular, has traditionally been a form of art that amplifies anger, discontent, and injustice without filter.

‘In a world on fire, artists sometimes choose language that sounds confrontational or violent. That is part of artistic expression, but not automatically language that we as a venue endorse.

‘Paradiso shares the outrage and concern regarding the genocidal violence taking place in Gaza.

‘That Bob Vylan raises his voice against it is legitimate and necessary. Should the Openbaar Ministerie (public prosecution service) wish to investigate whether any criminal offences have been committed, Paradiso will cooperate.’

Indeed, some suggest that Bob Vylan’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s death amount to ‘inciting violence’, as they’re clearly suggesting that it’s OK to murder someone who you oppose politically.

They’ve already had their US visas revoked and gigs cancelled elsewhere in Europe, are Bob Vylan trying to tank their careers completely? Probably a good way of going about it. Then again, if the reaction from that crowd is anything to go by, there’s clearly a market for this sort of thing.
