AI-Generated Actress Tilly Norwood Is ‘The Next Scarlett Johansson’, Studios Clamouring To Work With Her
Just in case you needed reminding of the impending AI takeover of real-life industry, an AI-generated actress named Tilly Norwood has been declared ‘the next Scarlett Johansson’, with multiple talent agencies and Hollywood studios reportedly clamouring to work with “her”. Shouldn’t an AI actress have an AI agent?! Apparently not.
As per Variety, Tilly Norwood is the creation of AI talent studio Xicoia, owned by Hollywood producer Eline Van der Velden’s AI production studio Particle6.
Van der Velden told the outlet that movie studios were quietly moving forward with AI projects, and that further announcements would come in the next few months.
She said: “We were in a lot of boardrooms around February time, and everyone was like, ‘No, this is nothing. It’s not going to happen.’ Then, by May, people were like, ‘We need to do something with you guys.”
Welp, clearly, no matter how much we b1tch and moan about it, AI is here to stay. I’m pretty sure if you polled the entire world on whether they want AI actors and actresses to star in movies over their human counterparts, the overwhelming majority would vote against it. And yet, the movie industry is moving full-speed ahead in that direction, because they’re going to make billions out of it anyway (not to mention the time and money they’ll save using AI ‘talent’ over the real thing).
Even more annoyingly, Tilly Norwood already has her own Instagram account with 30k followers. She literally hasn’t even done anything yet! Just get a load of how depressing this feed is:

In fact, the backlash has been so great that creator Eline Van der Velden has put out a statement assuring that Tilly Norwood is NOT a replacement for a human being, even though she blatantly is..

“To those who have expressed anger over the creation of my AI character, Tilly Norwood, she is not a replacement for a human being, but a creative work — a piece of art. Like many forms of art before her, she sparks conversation, and that in itself shows the power of creativity.
“I see AI not as a replacement for people, but as a new tool, a new paintbrush. Just as animation, puppetry, or CGI opened fresh possibilities without taking away from live acting, AI offers another way to imagine and build stories. I’m an actor myself, and nothing — certainly not an AI character — can take away the craft or joy of human performance.
Creating Tilly has been, for me, an act of imagination and craftmanship, not unlike drawing a character, writing a role or shaping a performance.
“AI characters should be judged as part of their own genre, on their own merits… Each form of art has its place, and each can be valued for what it uniquely brings.
“I hope we can welcome AI as part of the wider artistic family; one more way to express ourselves, alongside theatre, film, painting, music, and countless others. When we celebrate all forms of creativity, we open doors to new voices, new stories, and new ways of connecting with each other.”
I mean, that’s 100% bullsh1t because Van der Velden literally said previously that they want Tilly Norwood to be the “next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman”:
Van der Velden had told Broadcast International: “We want Tilly to be the next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman, that’s the aim of what we’re doing.”
Clearly these AI bigwigs would love it if AI actors and actresses replaced the real thing and probably if they ultimately just replaced real people altogether. This isn’t some small independent movie project they’re working on, it’s the start of an AI revolution that will one day be able to make them hundreds of millions from a movie that cost peanuts to make.
The only thing that can save us now is if we as consumers refuse to watch AI movies, although… what if they’re actually really good? I guess that remains to be seen. Aside from that, maybe someone can hack into Tilly Norwood’s Instagram account and post a video of her saying something racist. Getting her cancelled by the internet mob might just be our only hope.
