Fake Doctor Arrested In India After Watching YouTube Tutorial While Performing Surgery On Patient
A woman in India has died after a fake doctor performed a kidney stone surgery on her while following a YouTube tutorial for guidance.
The patient was identified as Munishra Rawat, who had visited the unauthorised clinic, ‘Shri Damodar Aushadhalaya’ in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, for severe abdominal pain on December 5, 2025.
The clinic owner, Gyan Prakash Mishra, was allegedly drunk during the procedure and had recruited his nephew, Vivek Mishra, as his assistant for the day.
Gyan Prakash Mishra diagnosed the pain as a kidney stone and recommended surgery, for which he charged 20,000 rupees (around £60). He then stuck on a YouTube tutorial for kidney stone surgery and went to work.
Obviously, the outcome was a total disaster, with the “doctor” cutting multiple nerves in the woman’s abdomen, including those connected to her stomach, small intestine, and esophagus.
She died the next day due to excessive bleeding.
Gyan Prakash Mishra and his nephew immediately fled the scene following the patient’s death, but were later tracked down by police and arrested. They were found to be operating the clinic illegally, but more to the point – neither of them had a medical degree.
Jeez – imagine throwing on a YouTube tutorial and conducting an invasive surgery on another human being like it’s a DIY project. Just what in the hell were these two bozos thinking? You can watch multiple YouTube videos on fixing a leak under your kitchen sink and still f— it up, let alone kidney stone surgery.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, the fake doctor was also drunk. What, did he need a few shots beforehand to calm his nerves?
What’s really crazy is that Gyan Prakash Mishra owned and operated his own fake clinic in the first place. How on Earth does someone get that far being a fake doctor? Where are the checks? Makes you wonder how widespread these fake clinics are, even outside of places of India.
Uncle and nephew have both been charged under culpable homicide. RIP to the victim and thoughts with her friends and family.
