Miss Finland Stripped Of Crown After Making ‘Racist Gesture’ In Social Media Photo

Miss Finland 2025 has been stripped of her title after making a racist gesture in a social media post captioned “kiinalaisenkaa syömäs”, which translates to “eating with a Chinese person.”

Sarah Dzafce, 22, used her fingers to pull her eyes into a slanted shape – something I don’t think any of us have seen since maybe primary school:

I don’t know if Miss Finland ever received any social media/PR training but this was obviously a silly thing to do, and the photo sparked a massive backlash against her online.

Worse still, Dzafce initially came up with the dumbest excuse of all time to try and save her skin: claiming she was rubbing her temples and stretching her eyes due to a “severe headache”. Even though her caption about Chinese people is literally right there! How stupid does she think people are?

Well anyway, she has since apologised for the gesture, so fair play to her for that. She posted a lengthy statement online saying:

“I am very sorry to everyone I have offended and hurt by my actions on social media. I fully understand that my actions have caused many bad feelings and I am deeply sorry for that. The Miss Suomi [Miss Finland] title is not just a crown for me, but also a responsibility.”

The damage had been done, however, and Dzafce was dethroned as Miss Finland, just months after being crowned in September.

The Miss Finland Organisation also released a statement: “The Miss Finland Organization states clearly and unambiguously that we do not accept racism or discriminatory behavior in any form. We are deeply sorry for the offense and distress caused by the conduct of our representative.”

Good news for runner-up Tara Lehtonen, who has now been crowned the new Miss Finland:
