Supermodel David Gandy Slams Andrew Tate’s ‘Immature’ Ideas Of Masculinity

British supermodel David Gandy has ripped into Andrew Tate for being a poor role model to young men, claiming the controversial figure pushes a “disruptive” and “immature” idea of masculinity.

Aside from being an international superstar model, Gandy, 45, has been been backing the Centre for Social Justice’s Lost Boys campaign, which aims to raise awareness on the issues boys and young men are facing.

Gandy reckons young men need better role models to combat the sort of messaging that Andrew Tate puts out there.

The D&G/Hugo Boss/M&S/H&M model said“When you’ve got unregulated information and the form of, should we say people like Andrew Tate who are sort of pushing a very immature, I would say, and disruptive idea of masculinity on to vulnerable young men, then that’s where the problem holds.

“There’s not enough narrative about good men.”

A lot of people excuse Andrew Tate by claiming the core of what he preaches is true masculinity, but at the end of the day, this is a guy who refers to himself as a “misogynist” and has been charged with rape and human trafficking, and for whom there is plenty of evidence that he abuses and mistreats women.

On defining ‘masculinity’, Gandy adds: “There’s not sort of one thing that fits all and a lot of the information, like Andrew Tate and a lot of other people in there, is pushing this very extreme form of masculinity, wrong form, and there’s not enough good examples out there of good, kind men and things they do.”

On the idea that masculinity is being ‘watered down’ and that women are taking over:  “I don’t think that’s quite true, I think there’s a good balance and there should be a good balance. I think all parents have to take certain roles and every parent and every situation is different.

“We are the first generation, I believe, my age, where we’re seeing the dads have to take on a different role. My wife’s a barrister. I certainly wouldn’t mess with her.”

Will be interesting to see how Andrew Tate responds to this, especially as his usual form of attack involves pointing out that his critic is genetically inferior to him. How can he say that about David Gandy, though – a guy who scientists literally determined is the most attractive man on the planet?

Well, maybe he’ll just call him “Zoolander” and challenge him to a fight or something. Or maybe he’ll say a guy that preens and poses for the camera has no say in what’s masculine and what isn’t? Then again, Tate does plenty of preening and posing himself, doesn’t he?
