Dad Who Left Toddler To Die In Hot Car ‘While He Played Video Games & Watched Porn’ Is Found Dead

A Phoenix, Arizona man who left his two-year-old daughter to die in a hot car while he watched porn and played video games has been found dead.

Christopher Scholtes, 38, would routinely keep his children, aged 2, 5 and 9, in the car so that he could have a break to play video games, drink and masturbate.

He had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was set to spend up to 30 years in prison, but never arrived to begin his sentence on Wednesday (November 5). His death is being treated as a suicide.

Here’s the footage of his arrest:

Scholtes’s 2-year-old daughter passed away on July 9, 2024. She was found unresponsive in the backseat of his car after being left there for three hours. Temperatures peaked at 109 (42c) that day.

His other kids, aged 5 and 9, said their dad kept them in the car regularly, saying: “He got distracted by playing his game and putting his food away.”

A text from Scholtes’ wife as their daughter was being rushed to the hospital read: “I told you to stop leaving them in the car. How many times have I told you?”

Absolutely tragic. I’m not surprised that his guilt and shame tore him up to the point that he took his own life, but it was also completely selfish to do that given that he still has a wife and two other children. Then again, he was about to spend 30 years in prison so maybe it was more of a coward’s way out. In the end, he died as he lived – selfishly.

Parker Scholtes was found dead in the blue 2023 Honda Acura SUV about 4.15pm on July 9 outside the family home in Marana, north of Tucson, Arizona. Her father Christopher Scholtes, 37, was charged with second-degree murder and child abuse after police found he left her in the car to nap for three hours.

Pima county attorney Laura Conover said in a video statement: ‘Instead of coming in to take accountability for what has occurred here, we have been informed and we have confirmed that the father took his own life last night. This is obviously extraordinarily complicated. We extend our deepest sympathies and sorrow to all the loved ones who have suffered the loss of this beautiful baby girl and now another loss to his family.’

RIP to the little girl, Parker Scholtes, and thoughts with her mum and siblings. Just an unimaginable tragedy for the remaining family.
