Stag Do Dad Faces 5 Years In Prison After Trying To Open Plane Door Mid-Flight

A British dad is facing up to five years in prison after attempting to open the doors mid-flight on a packed Ryanair plane travelling from Luton in London to Alicante in Spain.

Daniel Ashley-Laws, who calls himself Dan Rizz online, was on a stag-do with his son and a load of their friends when they started causing trouble, causing the flight to emergency land in Toulouse, France, and for French cops to haul the group off the plane (which they did with aplomb):

The next part shows the man’s son (in blue) getting into an altercation as he was being led off behind his dad. Like father, like son:

According to The Sun, the group “started fighting several times” before the pilot decided on an emergency landing, which is obviously a very costly and annoying decision to have to make. The dad is now looking at prison time for ‘endangering the safety of an aircraft’ with his attempt at opening the plane door mid-flight, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison plus a fine equivalent to around £60,000 (in both the UK and France).

I mean, as if it wasn’t obvious this guy is a complete idiot already, the fact he tried to fight the arresting officers just proves it tenfold. What did he think the outcome would be? That he’d knock them out, then knock out the pilot, then safely fly the plane himself to Alicante? Well, in fairness, the possibilities on a Ryanair flight are endless.

It does look like Dan was released after sobering up in a Toulouse cell, as he shared this update on Facebook earlier from Benidorm, seemingly poking fun at the officer who was pinching his ear during the arrest:

As mentioned however, he does face a judicial probe and up to five years in jail for endangering the aircraft, so I guess he better enjoy his holidays while he still can.

A Ryanair spokesperson said: ‘This flight from London-Luton to Alicante was diverted to Toulouse after several passengers disrupted the flight.

‘The crew then requested the intervention of the police, who met the plane upon arrival at Toulouse airport and disembarked these passengers before the flight returned to its original destination.

‘Ryanair has a zero-tolerance policy for unacceptable passenger behavior and will continue to take strict measures to address it, ensuring all passengers and crew have a smooth and enjoyable journey, without unnecessary disruption.’
